I just put new 6x9s in the back and i couldnt tell which one was positive and which was negative coming from the car.
Is the wire with the white line the positive and the one without the line the negative?
Thanks

the only way i could tell is if u connect it one way both speakers in the back sound quieter than if u connect it the right way
I tried them both ways when I was putting them in but couldnt tell a difference in sound.
What is the right way to hook them up?
Per the service manual....wiring colors are the same for four or seven speaker system:
Left Rear Positive - Yellow/Blue
Left Rear Negative - Gray/Blue
Right Rear Positive - Yellow/Red
Right Rear Negative - Gray/Red
The wires coming from the car for me are the same for both left and right speakers.
One of the wires is clear and the other is clear/white.
the wire with the stripe(on generic speaker wire) is always the positive.
Thats what I thought... Thanks
Well, it's designed to be that way, but obviously someone has rewired the speakers with generic wire, so there's no way to tell which wire they hooked up to the positive side at the amplifier end. So basically you have a 50/50 shot.Quote:
