look for vacuum leak, or the IAC is bad
how do i look for a leak
not sure how to check for a leak but i had this problem on my 7g and it was the idle air control motor.. its the iac motor if you give it gas 2 keep it at normal idle when u first start it then its fine after like 10 seconds
buy a can of brake cleaner at autozone or one of those, turn the car on and spray it at all the places where air might be scaping.
do you have a stock or aftermarket intake?
If you have aftermarket and your car is an 4 banger, check your intake manifold (The big Black peice of piping behind the engine where the intake connects to, check to see that it has not cracked behind the throttle body {the metal peice between the intake manifold and the intake}) if the car is shutting off, it has to be a pretty big leak which sounds 100% like a broken intake manifold. update us on your findings.
Try another MAF sensor.
my mass air sensor went on my old 7g but it just idled rough it never died but it did this when the iac went on my current g

if your MAF or any other sensor goes out to cause a rough idle, it would throw a code correct?
yes it wood throw a code but he didnt mention a code so thats y i believe its the iac motor
edit: the iac also throws a cel code but the iac has gone on 2 gs for me.. a little unlucky.. and these were the symptoms
I'm having the same problem. Any suggestions websites that sell MAF for 7G Galants. I would just go to the shop, but I've had bad experiences with auto shops around here, so I try to do everything myself.
