1998 ES: broken timing belt
Well my 1998 ES broke its timing belt. Supposed to get 60K miles out of them but only got 47K on this one. Changing the timing belt to see if it will still run despite it being an interference engine. My early 1994ES (bought in 1993) likes to break timing belts right at 60K. Despite having three timing belts break on the 1994, she still runs well at 307K miles. The 1994 is sidelined for transmission problems so on the bright side if the 1998's engine is toast, I'll pull the 5 speed swap I put in her 40K ago and put it in the 1994. That will make the wife very happy because she wants me to thin the herd.
I'd post a picture of the timing belt wrapped three times around the crankshaft gear but don't see that option anymore.
