so here's my first "modification." probably not what you were expecting, but it had to be done before anything else.

not sure how to make the image show up in the thread. sorry guys, i'm not the best when it comes to computers.
EDIT: nevermind, i figured it out.
Hey.. Just bought a 2012 Galant SE
Looking for aftermarket parts is a bitxh.. Have you found any?
Any new upgrades?
@shotta12 - aftermarket parts for this car are few and far between. you'll find several things from the ECLIPSE that will fit, but GALANT-specific pieces are hard to find. i was a little frustrated when i found that out, too. but i still got several things in the works; i'll update this thread shortly.
Nice!
Looking forward to seeing how its coming along for you.
If you could also point out the selection of Eclipse parts we can choose from that would be great.
Thanks
Hi there, I am a second 9G owner. I used to have a 2005 GTS and I currently have a 2009 Ralliart.
If you look in the forums you will find a full list of the parts from the 4G eclipse that fit.
Seats
CAI's
Suspension (mixed feelings IMO)
And then some.
I wanted to know if you guys since you have the newer SE model could help me locate the Part Number for the AUX port attached below the AC controls. I am trying to coordinate several mods like adding a switch for composite video to the MMCS, MMCS flash and bluetooth integration via the 13 DIM pin behind the head unit.
This is the aux port I am referring to.

Where would i be able to find the part number?
@echo12 - your best bet is to call the dealership. they should be able to look that up, no problem.
Noted, but I think I found it and it's just the analog 3.5mm plug female on the back of the radio via the 13pin.... I'll post the p/n when I find it.
sorry, i've been lazy and haven't updated in a bit. did a few small things since i last posted, including:
- tinting the windows
- installing a vortex generator on the roof
- adding a decal to the rear window
- tinting the rear lights red
only a couple small things left before i do anything major. i wanna black out the emblems and anything chrome (like the trim around the windows and grill) and maybe black out the bottom portion of the rear bumper. anyway, i'll post several shots of the updates i did soon.
I think im doing everything backwards,
Ive been doing the big stuff then I sit around mad because I ran out of cash for the small stuff.
Any update on your car?
Id love to see pictures of the progress.
@12GaugeMule - i've always done it that way, too. but on this platform there's not nearly as many things available to do, unless you're talking custom stuff. then that starts to get expensive. i figured this time around i'd get all the small things outta the way first, and then start working on the performance mods.
i'll post a pic of the updates i mentioned last time in a few days...
here's what the car looks like so far from the rear. i love the look of tinted windows on a white car. also, notice how the taillights no longer have that annoying chrome section in the middle.
i think it's also worth mentioning that i replaced all interior and exterior bulbs with LEDs. the change is subtle, but it really makes a difference. donno why cars still use bulb technology from a hundred years ago.
Looks very good man!
Kudos.
IMO: I would've gone w the black and white theme.
I am actually looking forward tinting my tails in he next month or so. If you can get your hands on a gts or Ralliart spoiler lip and match that with the lower bumper section black color, u got yourself sweet sweet eye candy...
As a suggestion, I would def like to see the lower section of that back bumper black. I think it would give it a nice accent.
PS.
If u can, take down pics of those led mods u speak of...
@echo12 - i was thinking about a lip spoiler, but the vortex generator on the roof is black, too. i don't wanna start doing too many black accents, so i'm gonna stick with just blacking out the bumper.
in the meantime, i swapped out the shitty chrome headlights for the ones with the dark bezel. man, what a pain in the ass to do...you gotta remove the entire front bumper to take the lamps out. so while the bumper was off, i figured i'd do the grill. i'll take pics later to show you exactly what i did, i think you guys'll like it.
I'm guessing u didn't take pics of removing the bumper to get to the grille?
That bumper is a woman w 6 kids to remove...
@echo12 - no, i didn't document the process of taking the bumper off. but yeah, it was a bitch to do. there's gotta be an easier way, i'm gonna ask one of the techs next time i bring it in for a service. i have so many cuts and scrapes on my forearms just from trying to reach some of the bolts. unless you have the hands of a child, they're almost impossible to get to.
i'm surprised nobody's done a how-to post on this yet. in hindsight, i shoulda done a step-by-step instructional, but i'm not gonna bother doing that again. took me about an hour just to get damn thing off.
so here's a shot of the front so far. like i said, swapped out the headlights to black ones and blacked out the grill. i think a lip would be a nice finishing touch to the front end; too bad nobody makes one. that'll be another DIY project for this car.
and here's a shot of the vortex generator i mentioned earlier:
You can use the eclipse front lip like gotti...that's what I plan on doing too
i plan on using a lancer evolution front lip. obviously, i have to do some custom fitting, but i think it'll be just what the front end of this car needs.
Actually I think that is the front lip gotta used ... Let me know how it goes ...I'm still in phase 1 haha I only have eyelids so far
@shotta12 - i'll post pics, don't you worry.
so while i'm figuring out how i'm gonna rig this front lip, i painted the rest of the chrome accents on the car black. did the trim below the windows and the emblems. i think i'll leave off the "mitsubishi" emblem that was on the left side, gonna put back just the logo and the "galant" emblems.
also ordered a short ram intake from INJEN. gonna start ordering a lotta parts real soon...
so all the chrome accents on the car are now black. the trim on the grill, the trim on the windows, the emblems, the exhaust tip, et cetera. here's what the trim under the windows looks like now:
i'll post a shot of the emblems on the rear end after i black out the bottom portion of the bumper. gimme a few days.
a while back i said i had replaced all the exterior and interior bulbs with LEDs. i just wanted to mention that on this car you will get hyperflash on the turn signals with these kinds of bulbs. the computer thinks the bulbs are out, since LEDs take much less power to operate than an incandescent bulb. this is an easy fix, however. just buy some load resistors; you need one for each turn signal. they're dirt cheap and really easy to install. i posted an instructional, in case anyone needs help with this issue:
https://www.thegalantcenter.org/show...with-LED-bulbs
so here's what the emblems and rear bumper look like after blacking them out:
and a close-up of the diffuser-style bumper i came up with:
i think it looks good. by the way, i didn't use flexidip (or whatever it's called) on the bumper, i used truck bed coating, to give it that textured look. looks more OEM that way, i think.
@shotta12 - i'm doing the lip tomorrow, so i'll take some picture when i'm done with it. and dude, everything i've done on my car cost less than $100. in fact, the most expensive thing i bought was the HID conversions. granted, i've done all the work myself, but i'm sure you can make your car look better than mine with very little effort.
so here's the front lip. i ended up going down the home-made DIY road. the work that had to be put in to fit an actual fiberglass lip was more than i wanted to deal with, so i went with a rubber foam material. it came out looking good, anyway. here's a few angles:
http://s1.postimg.org/8s9h9t7s/IMG_7402.jpg
almost done with the car, looks-wise. should be ready to move onto the performance mods in a few weeks. i think she's coming along nicely.
Looks good! I want to get a lip but first i need a guy to do all the work lol! Im thinking about lowering springs and tints at the moment. Can anyone vouch for Megan springs MADE FOR THE GALANT not the Eclipse. Im considering these http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/2...c8=41&c9=26886
@shotta12 - you sure those were made specifically for the GALANT?
Im only saying that because thats what theyre telling me lol Megan Racing Orange Performance Lowering Springs Mitsubishi Galant 04-12 ... There is another guy on here saying the springs made specifically for the galant are the better option. Hopefully i dont fuck it up. Also ordered a mesh grill but its only 12'' by 48'' hopefully i dont need another. Are we the only 2 still driving these lmao
@shotta12 - i would call up the company (not the site) and ask. a lotta online sites will have stuff for our cars but the parts were actually manufactured to be used on a different car, namely the ECLIPSE. you gotta remember: our cars are a tad heavier than theirs, so unforeseen issues might arise down the road.
and yeah, i think there's about five people who still drive the 9Gs haha.
Thanks for the advice.. Ill give them a call give me a few weeks and ill post pics once everythings installed
Cars lookin good man! Ive been thinking of doing a similar type lip on my 9G and this may have convinced me
Can't wait to see more of your progress
i mentioned in an earlier post that i blacked out the exhaust tip. here's what it looks like:
if you wanna black out your exhaust tip, or really any internal parts that get hot, i highly recommend using a heat-resistant paint. otherwise it'll flake off after a few days and look like shit.
Hey can you give me a full rear shot? I like the red colored tails, how did you red them out? spray or film?
