Can the 95 galant speedo be recalibrated if i get bigger tires?
how was the speedo discalibrated in the first place? by putting smaller tires?
If you put larger tires on...your speedo will be off by a couple mph...he wants to know if there is a place he can get the car recalibrated to accomodate the new wheels. There has got to be one somewhere, but I have no idea. Mine I know is off by like 2-3 mph...I have 17" wheels
you'd probably have to modify the speedo sensor that connects to the distributor in the tranny casing.
good luck with that.
Are you sure you can't use a code reprogrammer to calibrate it on OBD 1.5, I know with my 97 I can calibrate on my reprogrammer for bigger tires, but maybe that is because it is OBD 2.
I am pretty sure no one here has recalibrated their speedos here on this board. You are looking at a difference of 1 mph if you going from stock 15's to 18's....nothing huge to where I would see recalibrating would be necessary.
Calibration Shmalabration.
haha i havent recalibrated mine and i know its still right cuz everytime i get pulled over they tell me exactly wut my speedo was tellin me lol
what sizes are u trying to fit exactly?
thanks for the help guys, i'm only going like an inch bigger, so it shouldn't matter too much. i was just wondering if there was an easy way to do it.
there is no way to recalibrate the speedo.
i got 17's and mine is only 1mph off according to my GPS
You can do a plus size one or two....rim size up but overall the exact same size the car came with. So what I mean is if the car came with 195/60 15"...you could get I think 215/50(or 45 I forget) 17" and it would measure out to be the same rotational circumference to the stock wheels.

This will give your info...this way you shouldnt have to worry about recalibration
i have 17's n mines off 2 mph according to both my gps's and the little cop signs that tell you how fast your going...
but then again the gap between what im doing and what it says only seems noticable above 40ish
the gps is never an accurate way to compare how accurate your speedo is, my navi shows that im off by 3-4mph while those cop scanning signs show that im dead on what my speedo is showing
