I sure do have some nice friends

Yesterday my friend just gave me a free T3/T4 turbo with the wastegate already attached and a FMIC. The FMIC is off a Saab. T3/T4's will work with my car right? I already know what else I have to get thanks to that link in the in the 7G section sticky about turbocharging 4g64's. I guess I can scrap the idea of putting my header and exhaust on now. I was gonna just go nitrous for awhile until I got money up to go turbo, bit shit I already got part of it for free. And a friend of a friend's going to install it for me when I get the rest of the parts I need. I think I'll just get my muffler on my car for now, then sell the header, downpipe, and high flow cat and put that money towards getting the rest of my shit. I hope this goes well.

don't even bother with the nitrous, if you for sure are going turbo. but BE CERTAIN you are going turbo, 80% of the users on this board are "going turbo" at some point, and i've never seen such a lack of turbos in my life. talk to any ricer as well, they're all "going turbo". just be sure you actually will.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. As of now I'm going turbo, and down the road with other work done I'll add nitrous, bug this is gonna be a nice project. Worst come to worst, I'll sell the turbo and the rest of the goodies and get one of the nitrous kits I was looking at. But anyway, a T3/T4 is cool for the parts that I need right? Is there any other turbo 8g 4g64's here?

T3/T4 is pretty big... You'll likely need a boost controller to keep it in check.

Pretty much all the info you'd need is listed on this forum somewhere.

Boost controllers seem pretty cheap so that won't be a biggy. I'm about to go to a junkyard and strip some eclipses. Though one thing I noticed was that under the hoods of the 8g and 7g, everything is going in the opposite direction of each other. Would that make things more difficult or not much of a problem?

You should be ok, most parts are universal. You can use any turbo exhaust mani from a 1g/2g. What flange does your turbo use?

    Mitsu flange:

    T3 flange:

Things I would snag at the yard:

    2g exhaust manifold
    1g BOV
    1g/2g injectors + resistor pack(make sure its 5spd. 5spd=450cc auto=390cc)
    complete piping from 2g
    2g SMIC
2g MAS (or 7g, they are the same, or use 8g mas)

Cant really think of much more that your could use on your 8g.

Wait, you have an 8g right?

Yes I have an 8g, and I'll have to find out what flange it uses.

Cause if it uses the T3 flange then it wont bolt onto a stock 1g/2g exhaust mani. The t25 on the 2g is a garret turbo but it still uses a mitsu flange. If it is a T3 flange you will either have to replace the flange on the T3/T4 with a mitsu flange or just use an aftermarket tubular or cast iron mani flange for the T3/T4.

You can make your own MBC for ~$12 instead of paying $50+ for an aftermarket MBC.

And then once you've spent all that money, you'll realize you still want to go faster... and faster... and faster.

Haha, yeah I know. I looked at the flange earlier and its a T3 flange, whoop dee doo, not exactly my problem, but will be coming out my pockets :x

Why? Oh, wait, it's because you don't know anything about turbocharging and you're spouting off information you don't understand!

Well, since my car is fucked up, I will not be putting forth the money to turbo my car. I think I'm just gonna sell the stuff I have and go n/a to nitrous, of course thats after everything's fixed. So I guess I mine as well keep the header and crap. Haven't completely made my mind up yet, but first thing's first, I gotta get my damn car on the road.
