I agree does need more tire to be on the safe side.

Fender roll and pull should be enough.

That is true but im talking about the space i have between the tire and fender i can't fit a finger

18x9 +35 all around with a 5mm spacer in the rear

@Greg thanks man i try to keep it looking clean

You shouldn't have many issues at all if you run 225/40R18s. What are the camber specs in front and rear?

18x9 +35mm is rather conservative. I have 19x9.5 +29mm in the rear, and I have 225/35R19 in the rear also. My Galant is lowered 3".

Your car looks so nice and i dont remember i have to take it back soon to get it realigned since i did some suspension work but i had 225/40 on my weds 18x9+45 and sat fine with no issues. I just wasn't sure since i lowered it more if id have the clearance i know that im basically almost maxed out in my front camber plate. Im going to throw on a apre 225/40 that i have to see how it looks but i do love the stretch look as long as its a proper stretch.

Car looks great 99galantes! I'm running the same specs as you in the rear without the spacer and I'm running 225/40 with camber corrected and I clear but just barely. Only time I rub is when I roll over really odd spots on the road. Your best bet would probably be pulling fenders more or doing small radius work but i would go there. I'd go wider in the front like you but I've already lost u turn capabilities lol

You could also go to a 215/40R18 if you want to retain a 'stretched' tire look.

215/40R18 is the tire size that TireRack.com has always recommended for our cars, they have always been conservative.

For an idea of what tire and wheel size combo's you can look here: http://www.tyrestretch.com/

You can look for 215s on a 9" wheel, and with different brand tires to see which you may like the most.

@Dronesurfboards thanks and ive gotten use to making wide turns that i dont do any sharp turns anymore lol
@RedGalant2k1 Thats what i was planning on doing if the 225/40 didnt give me that stretch look. I really love how these Michelin pilot sports look and feel i was thinking about getting another set my issue is i know some tires run wider then others i will take a look at that site i forgot all about it

I agree with redgalant2k1, you will keep the stretched look with 215, I have a little stretch on my 225, but nothing rounded out as much as you have. I might relip my front to 8.5 to flush out just a lil more, don't think I can do 9's like you in the front though, im sitting lower than you in the front. I cant do any uturns without rubbing hard. I basically need 3 lanes to barely make a uturn without rubbing.

That is why I mentioned 215s. A 225 is 8.86" wide from sidewall to sidewall, I'm not sure a 225 would look how you like it to.

I like stretched tires (to an extent). I just don't like it looks like there's room to fit something bigger (even if there actually isn't)

  19. #28299
a little stretched is ok but the people whose tires are cambered so much and stretched they basically ride on an inch or two of tread are dangerous IMO...Ive had issues with blowing tires due to previous owner messing around with that stuff, its no fun =(

(that and the tires were too small)
