    Wheel/Tire question

I'm new here and I'm looking for very lightweight 17" wheels. I just purchased a 2003 GTZ with 35,000miles and Have a set of new 225/45/17" tires that was going to go on my Spirit RT. What do you guys recomend?

BTW does anyone know how much the Factory 16" rims weight without the tires. I found that my 205/55/16 Goodyears weigh 19lbs and my 225's weigh 23.7lbs.

Well if you want lightweight wheels you have VOLK, WORK, Weld, SSR, ENKEI, or a few others. Depends on the style you want.

I like the the MB weapons but I believe their 21lbs in a 17" rim. Kosie K1 TS look good and their only 15.5lbs. I can't find any weight measurements on the Drag extreme alloys.

Ok the Kosie are only 14.1 LBs a piece in the 17x7 and 15.5lbs a piece in the 17x8. I'll have to weigh my wheels sometime.

    Will a 17x7 with a 42mm offset fit our cars with a 225/45/17 tire?

What is the offset on the 16x6 factory wheels?

stock offset is +46mm. 17x7 +42mm will fit no problem but for 225/45r17 you might want 17x7.5 +45mm to +40mm

Going 17X7.5 will allow the tire to sit more flat on the ground but it shouldn't change the center location of the tire that much right? The 17x8 in a 40-45mm would bring tire closer to hub side about .12" to .33" vs 17x7 with a 42mm offset.

With 17x6.5 or 17x7 the best fit tire is a 215/50/17.

With a 17x7.5" wheel the best fit tire is 225/45-17

    With a 17x8" wheel, its best with a 235/45-17.

Though personally I would recommend a 17x7" with a 225/45-17 which will work without issue.
