    80 mph problem

For the first time today I went on the interstate with my Galant and I discovered an alarming problem. When I go above 75 the car steering wheel vibrates, and the whole car feels like its falling apart, it is difficult to control and scary. however I thought it was just the vibration from the engine sine its a big displacement 4 cylinder. The more peculiar thing is that once I got above 85 mph it seemed to smooth out, and the vibrations stopped.... is something wrong with the car?

Yeah that happened to me too. At first I thought that I needed new motor mounts but they were fine. Then I thought that my suspension was shot (which it was but that was not the problem) It was my wheel & tire balancing. So I had them rebalanced on a high speed balancer & that solved the problem.

ohhh thank you, where could I go to get the car balanced?

You're not balancing the car just the wheels. Your local tire shop should have a balancing machine.

Just make sure that the tire shop you take it to can perform high speed wheel balancing and you'll be fine. Of course, one would wonder why you'd be doing over 85 mph on the highway....
