No apologies for tire talk. This is the type of stuff we should be talking most about in my thread! Haha the help is appreciated fellas.

I'm a beginner at best when it comes to driving on the track so right now I am looking for the most price conscious tire I can get because I probably won't get more than 3 track events this year only because I can't afford to do more than that. Well see what happens when it comes down to it since I haven't even fired her up yet.

B, ita a looks like an earls knockoff. I didn't realize which one I was buying until they sent me the shipping receipt. But it's a quality piece and it seems comparable to the mishimoto oil cooler quality. I got it on eBay for $60..

Matt, I have a buddy that had RS3's on his MRS and they felt awesome going through the twisties out here and he was doing awesome at autox with them.

Cody, I would love another set of Bridgestones, but I have to be real smart about how to spend my money if I want to get on the track this year. I still need to freshen up the brakes.

Read through this, some of the tires are out of production, but it still may come in handy for you.

Thanks Cody. That's a very helpful thread. I had RE070 before and they were great.

From that thread it looks like the 595rsr doesn't really stand up against the ZII and the RS3. That boils it down to two. It now comes to what has a stiffer sidewall

Which the ZII does so in thinking I will go with the ZII.

It's too bad that the ZI is not in production anymore.

The Z1* Specs were awesome tires. If you can find a set. Not drag tires though.

For drag tires you would be best off with something like the BFG Drag radials or the Hoosier Slicks.

If you want the tire to have for autocross its the RS3 right now. I'm trying to wear off my Rivals so I can switch, plus the Rivals heat cycle out pretty quick. The ZII is good, its just not as good as the RS3.

I don't track so forgive me if I'm out of my league on tire talk but cooper also has a tire called rs3-s..dunno if they would be as sticky as the others but I saw a set on ebay new for cheap in 225/40/18. But I needed an all season http://www.treaddepot.com/group/zrs3s.html

8thls6, Cooper Zeon RS3 tires are nowhere near the Hankook RS-3. Just thought I would clarify.

Galantman03, I want to see you on an autocross course, I'm waiting for an 8g that oversteers more than mine, lol.

Tires wise, good drag tires generally have a soft sidewall, good track day and autox tires have really stiff sidewall. With AWD you can do things that shouldn't be possible, but with enough power any good autox tire won't suffice for drag.

From my experience in tire performance to date the list goes:

    1. Hankook RS-3
    2. Dunlop ZII
    3. BFG Rival

This is for heavier cars, and when I say heavier, I mean over 2000 lbs.

RS3 has almost r comp grip... I love them, hands down better than the other options. Especially with with the newer updated compound the wet and cold grip is much improved.

RS3 has no grip in 15* weather and 450whp. haha

Excuse the noob mistake at the end. I have yet to get used to this clutch. I know excuses.
