Hard to tell from the MP3, does it sound like this in person?

If you listen carefully in the first couple seconds, you can hear a more faint version of the sound at idle, but it becomes much more apparent and obvious on the decel when the motor is revved. Aprox area where sound could be coming from is right above the bell housing on the tranny....
I have no idea wtf this sound could be.....maybe pressure plate teeth touching the throw-out-bearing? They don't sit flat anymore.....

7g for life!
it sounds like a 96 galant motor in a 94 galant...
or u but a turky call on the return of your BOV
ZIGONATOR
Sound little like a whistling to me, is the exhaust ok? This could be the flexi part of exhaust under the car.. Cos mine does the same... But its difficult to diagnose from a mp3.

eh, no, not really. god i hope not. christ.
you know i'm glad you mentioned this because it could be. i seriously screwed up my flex section on my downpipe when i was pulling the motor....long story. i'll check it out today if i get the nerve to start up my car :(Originally Posted by Dragon-and-his-mitsubishi
Mine car tone of the flex section was little higher, but it could be... The sound is on louder, when you left the foot from throttle...

well, started the car up, was reminded of my glorious radiator crack/leak once again, and then realized there's no way to rev the car while my head is underneath listening to the downpipe/flex section. gonna wait till roommate gets home
Matt I have listened to the MP3 you posted of the sound several times and I just can't seem to diag what it could be.
Did you check and make sure that when you installed the motor that their aren't things not bolted down or secured?
I am stumped like you are right about now.

yeah, triple checked the crap out of everything before i mated the tranny up and dropped it in. i posted on tuners and a couple guys seem to think its my TOB, which would make sense since the pressureplate isn't sitting flat anymore, and i'm sure the teeth are constantly making contact on the TOB, but it's never made this sound before.......
So everything was swapped over...you didn't install a new TOB?

yeah, i know, big boo-boo, i was super short on time, using a friends driveway, going to replace everything inside the bell housing later this week
MAn im really stumped about this one. I wish i was there so i could help diagnose. im more of a hands on person. I have a wierd mystery sound also. Its like a ratlling in my motor it doesnt sound like a valve but idk. My buddy says that its my cam....but its been doing it since i got my car more than a year ago, i havent been nice to my motor either lol so i know how you feel.....
DUDE! My car sounded like that when i put my motor back in the last time. I checked for fucking days to see what it was. Turns out it was the bolt on the bracket that goes from the exhaust manifold to the front of the block. Id start there. Good luck man!
