anyone reupholster their center console lid theirself?

So ive been looking at youtube videos to reupholster my center console lid...looked easy enough. So i stripped mine apart and realized that if i stapled it like the videos show, it'll probably fuck up the plastic and make it crack or something. So is their another way to do it? Or should i just take it to an upholstery shop?thanks in advance

I would suggest using upholstery fabric glue. I personally recommend below:



High quality, works great, as always make sure you wipe down the surface you want to apply the fabric with the correct cleaner.

Is it strong enough to hold down vinyl? I bought a different kind and used it on one side but when i pull on the other side to make it tight,the first side comes off
