Intake in, gas mileage down

I jus installed my short ram intake.. well actually just a MAS and the cone, and I've noticed that my gas needle is moving down much more rapidly.. is this normal?

Yea its normal. Your putting in more air and the car does burn a little more gas. Also if your like the rest of us you'll tend to floor the gas more often to hear the sound of the intake. Flooring it also burns more gas.
