hey peno, I always read that your suposed to ziptie the cable under the shifter assembly that prevents you from turning the key unless its in park down to something so that the car thinks its always in park. Since you just removed them all together I'm assuming it kinda defaults to thinking its in park just not being connected to anything?

well, i just removed both of the mechanical cables that ran to the auto shifter, and no problems at all yet. can take the key out at any time, can start the car in gear (with clutch in though, obviously). its like a brand new hyundai: no safety to or catch for turning on the car, just make sure it's in neutralOriginally Posted by JiP
I "heard" if you leave it in park then remove the cables you will be fine. Dont know if its the truth or not, just heresay

good job now do the I4 8G
im glad to see a real in-dept tutorial that dosnt have to do with headlights or somethin like that.
very nice job peno
these were originally scanned for mindless, but they'd be helpfull to anyone. these are all the service manual pages pertaining to the clutch or manual transaxle for a 94-95 galant. it'd probably be the same for anyone with a 96 or up.

no, clutch broke in on tuesday or so, the car is amazing.

also, the SS teflon line is working great. it was actually my biggest fear for failing, but it's perfect.
Exactly why is there a clutch fluid resevior in the DOHC engine version, and why is the clutch pedal spring setup different in the DOHC version? The sohc pedal has just a return spring while the DOHC has a big ass "turnover spring"

FYI for the inhibitor switch on a 97/98, You can just cross the two thick black/red and black/blue striped wires. They are in the middle of the switch, on oppossite ends. Had to try a few different combonations to figure that out :lauging:

haha, push starting, that's awesome
i feel your pain though, i went through about 5 starters before i actually got one that worked. i was in starter HELL for a few weeks. this is going to be a retarded question, but are you sure the flywheel is flush against the crank? i dont see how you could've gotten the tranny on with it being installed right, but who knows.
did you match up the flywheel inside the bell housing? this problem is wierd, you might want to return the starter and buy another one from another store. starters are like women, they're all bad and when you find a good one, you can't trust it.
