I think you're ok, mine does this as well. I'm gonna check all my belts, but otherwise it's ok...
well this a new problem of mine
now that it has been cold every time i start my car it will shoot to 2000 when it comes down to 1500 it begins to sputter down to 1000 then it will continue to shoot no higher to 1500 and sputter back down to 1000 (over and over) till the car is warm after it is warm the problem no longer happens
please any advice or solutions will be greatly appreciated
thank you

Sounds alot like when the Idle Air Control went bad...
$250 (parts) from the dealer...
The problem got really bad to the point where I HAD to take it in because my car WOULD accelerate on its own.....
Hope this ^ never happens to you. It's some scary shit....
Check your MAS or IAC...could be either--possibly
Naw, I dont think it's that serious. Check your O2 sensors though, they could be reading poorly at startup.

highly unlikely, bad o2 sensor is not going to create such a large rpm swing. I'd put the money on the IAC. Usually you could just unplug the IAC and start the car up and drive it around the block..you may idle like shit, but your not checking for a good smooth idle your checking to make sure the idle isnt rising and falling by 500 rpm.Originally Posted by ChikagoGTZ

Ooooo!
I was told that if I disconnected the MAS, then the car wouldn't be able to be driven.
Don't remember who said it...
but obviously, that's not the case!!!
Thanks
The new IAC is amazing..too bad the dealership was too stupid and slapped a MAS on there first to see if that was the problem: 550- parts+labor=death lol.
But really...I hope it doesn't get that bad for you.
Please take care!
I didnt say disconnect the MAS I said unplug the IAC! Disconecting the MAS will make your car very unhappy lol.

Funny how many times this question comes up and people still go to the dealer for diagnosis.
Rob, you used an exclamation point.. better be careful. haha
quick question guys, i bought the wrong 1G TB because as you can see
in the pic, the TB and the ISC motor are one piece:
my question is, the ISC on the 1G TB has 6pin connector:
can i just splice this thing to our IAC connector since it has 6 wires to it??
would our ecu read the same i/o?
Elo Galant 95,
Could be just me or yr 3 photos not showing nicely : ( .

I recently had the same thing happen, except that it only happenned twice, and triggered the CEL on. But the car is back to normal. Still the IAC? Should I try the unplugging IAC test? Will the CEL clear itself after some time?Originally Posted by sleepagalant

Not how fast your car goes but how good u drive going fast.

sleepa that IAC i sold you was good so i doubt its that
Eh when I "thought" I had a bad IAC I just had a 2k Idle on a warm start. Sounds like your IAC is working since it is correcting the idle back down to normal, but then shooting back up. Could possibly be a dieing IAC, but I dont think its completely shot or else it would be able to back the idle back down. Idk wheres John at?
7g for life!
you know what i never installed that IAC ....... the problem just kind of went away ......atleast i hope so
My car does the same thing when its cold. Ive checked all the sensors and they are good so hell if i know what it is but it doesnt bother me.. What bothers me is the car keeps breakind down on me!!!! lol
I tried unplugging the IAC to see what the result is. It will constantly have a high rpm, so it seems as if the IAC is dying.Originally Posted by seth98esT
Now, what I'm wondering about is if a dying IAC would trigger a CEL or could that be something more? I need to lookup the computer location so I can have an auto parts store read the codes...
Ok basically.. Sounds to me as if your car "idle surges?"... it will constantly fluctuate during idle??? Ive been told that a dirty TB can cause that so i guess your best bet might be to like completely clean the TB meaning take it apart and clean the shit out of it.. but like i tell everyone else im no mechanic.. but id try the cheapest shit first..
It doesn't idle surge all the time. Sometimes it will have a very low idle. Sometimes a very high idle.
