Best brand of oil for engine? To keep the ES running good.

I was wondering which oil would be the best for my car.
Sometimes I drive the very hard and in the middle.
    Best engine protectent oil.
Please give opinion on best groups of oil to buy
    Ex. Quaker state, etc......

I've heard great things about Mobil and Redline and stuff, I'm going to get the Quaker state full synthetic in about a few days myself.

I just filled up with Quaker State High Performance...and the car seems to shift alot smoother...I also put in a k&n oil filter. The combo seems to work really well together...and came highly recomended from the guy at checkers!!

mobil 1 is the best... no contest...

remember with the bestest oils, it can still fail you. choose a good filter. i either get a mobil1 or a k&n and don't forget to change the oil frequently @ the reccomended intervals. a good oil isn't gonna do u good if its been in your car for 20k miles

stick withe the dealer filters... stay away from the pep boys garbage...

if you run the Purple Knight, it claims 15K between changes, and i think Redline has a similiar claim... this kinda offsets the price of them, but i just can't go 15K miles wthout changing my oil...

Mobil 1 is only $4 at kmart this week. Also how much is the filter at the dealer? I've been using castrol, penske, fram.... and they are like $3.

Since we're at it, when do we change Air filter?

i use purolator pureone oil filters. one of the best out there. for oil I use Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5w-30. It used to be Mobil 1 Tri-synthetic, but they dropped that line.

I use Royal Purple (they claim 15K miles :? ) and Mobil 1 filter.

I really have no choice by going to the dealer...they have a partnership with Quaker State being that they call Houston home. Not that Quaker State stinks I really don't mind...but until I use up my free oil changes coupons I'm gonna save my money and experiment another time.

I have always used Castrol but I'm sure any of the oils will be good as long as you follow the manufacturer specs on weight, keep the level full and change it regularly (3 months or 3K miles). I also like any of the filters with a built in check valve at the bottom (look in hole and you'll see a little spring thing at bottom). I've seen them in the dealer filters, autolite, STP and others. Basically, like others said.... change it regularly! Heat is what gets the oil... I would NOT wait even 7K miles before changing any oil. Happy motoring

I was using mostly Texaco Havoline oil and Mitsu filter for the first 50k miles or so. Then switched to Mobil 1 with Mitsu filter. I change the oil every 5k. I now have 113500 miles on my V6 and it runs nice and smooth. My vote is for Mobil 1.
