My uncle's old GSX had a cut out. it basically gets rid of the whole exhaust system and its restrictions with a click of a button. i thnk it has a flapp and it opens the cutout and closes the rest of the exhaust when engaged. and vise versa when its disengaged. its basically like running an open exhaust. cuz it comes right after the downpipe. I think its pretty cool if your set-up is for drag.. I dunt know why you would do it on a autocross car?

i had the 2.5" one and it was fun while it lasted... now that they have the controller i might get another one but without the controller you run the risk of opening the cutout too much. the motor runs off of a 2way momentary switch and since you dont know how open the valve is you risk over extending the motor. that is what happened to mine but now that the controller has a display and user programable presets it might be worth it

Ive heard the 7G without ANY exhaust (down pipe back) Its not a good site... When my flex pipe came COMPLETELY apart i swear that ive never heard a car so fucking LOUD... I drove it one day and i had people back off because it sounded like it was going to blow up..... But hey.. Whatever floats your boat.

well i dont think you could mount this one any where near the down pipe the only place it could go is after the first resonator on that bend before the gastank but still the second resonator is the most restrictive rigth an that is what i am trying to get around an also you DON'T HAVE TO RUN IT OPEN ALL THE TIME.

what you can do, that a lot of dsm guys do, is hook up a vacuum controlled solenoid so it only opens up when you have the throttle opened up to a certain amount. i would think anything past 75% (-5 vacuum?) is pretty good since you only open it up that far when you mean serious business.... would be great for a sleeper turbo setup that wants to stick with a quiet exhaust for normal driving

a cut out is overkill for your needs right now.

considering you're going to change your exhaust setup IF you were to get a turbo, it's something you do in the process or after

oh :-? now that my turbo knowlegde is reveled i was just askin lol. i thought you would need a high compression gasket since you are boosting the car lol my bad but i have done some more research on the turbo mainly cus i found an eclipse with a turbo in my junk yard an asked them too hold it for me :D but i just wanted too see if it would be a lot of trouble to just slap a turbo on there but i would want a small turbo one that makes peak power at 4,000 RPM if any thing like this is even out there or is the factory turbo for the eclipse i found good for that. oh an the eclipse is in front clip shape the cabin is fucked an so is the whole drive side but engine is still good i think. but some body took the tranny so i don't know what model it is all i know is that it is a 2gen any help
