So yeah, I got tired of the CAI idea and stuck the filter in the position it's in. Is this okay?

I cant see why it wouldnt be okay but, you'd get more power out of a cold air instead of a short ram.

I'd rather have the knowledge and ability to do it than the money to buy it already done.

I wanted to make it a CAI but I couldn't find anywhere possible to route the pipe or fit the filter.

short ram gives you more low end, cai gives you more top end. both give you about +0.5hp in the end...

I'd rather low end anyway but I wasn't aiming for performance. I just had the stuff and wanted to get it done.

Ya only dissadvantage of a CAI is if it sucks up water.

The filter is in a ok location. You actually will get cooler air with the stock setup...but more restriction. Anyways...I think you will be fine, at least you got your heat shield on the manifold header. If you didn't...you would be sucking more HOT air than cooler, because the heat shield helps keep underhood temps low.
