I have in car video from an autocross, I've just been to lazy to upload it and edit it.

As for not trying it with LAPD, california would probably have cops waiting at the boarder to try and get me on some emissions violation. Not that having no mufflers is a violation, there are cars that even from the factory dont have mufflers, the SRT-4 is one example, but I'm guessing CARB would frown on my exessive ZDDP emissions. The ZDDP is an anti wear additive that works really well, therefore the treehuggers must ban it. I use a non API certified race oil with enough ZDDP to keep a flat tappit cam alive. My thought is if it makes a life or death difference for a flat tappit cam then its probably going to be benoficial in my engine since I run the piss out of it.

ZDDP and cats dont get along so thats one reason that they are trying to reduce its content in oils, so the cats last longer. I love living in Kansas where they dont bother testing all that shit.

why not just take the first cat from the headers out and let it run from there.. or is it already like that.. i can just imagine the fumes in the cabin..

I'm not anti emissions enough to not have the exhaust run through cats, they do clean up alot and they really arent very restrictive, but the exhaust runs throught the cats and just ends at the flange after the last one. Thats where it ends because thats where I could unbolt it. The fumes arent bad, but I do keep the windows down, I never use air conditioning, and currently the ducting from the interior fan to the heater core is disconnected so that doesnt even work. I've never smelled any exhuast fumes or gotten light headed or any of those indicating factors, so I'm really not worried about the fumes.

What you people must realize that I would drive a all out racecar to work everyday, if I had a caged car I would wear a helmet, harness, and HANS divice to work every day. I guess I'm truely wierd but thats how I am, smooth and quiet ride mean absolutely nothing to me.

    AEM CAI.

    AMSS jet coated headers.

    custom 2.5" catback exhaust

    Revolution muffler.

Great sounding, deep, growl. I love how it all turned out. It is a V6 so no sure what the 4 would sound like. Probably one of the cheaper exhaust setups. Got the headers on a group buy, muffler online for cheap, CAI on a club 3G group buy and the exhaust wasn't too bad. Probably close to $1000 though for the whole setup.

CAI and magnaflow muffler, i felt the difference when i installed the muffler, i raced a 2002eclispe gt and kept up with him and then got the muffler and past him lol so yea i think it was a lil faster and that was just the muffler

just a muffler won't make you faster... it's all in driver error... but good try

I am running a CAI and A'exi muffler with custom axleback. I'm not going any further with the motor til I swap to DOHC and boost. so My main goal for now is 5-speed and brakes. In about a year Ill start the DOHC and boost project, atleast by that time, I wont have trouble with down time cuz I will have a dailydriver.

You could always put in a decoy muffler. :-P

EDIT - oh yeah, Weapon R Dragon short ram intake, stock everything else. Sounds better but not a tremendous performance difference. Planing on getting a RIPP/Vortech supercharger, RIPP or RPW headers and having a local DSM specialist shop throw down custom exhaust with an A'PEX N1 blue muffler. Mazda ain't gunna have nuthin on my zoom zoom.

I ran with just headers for 2 weeks until I got my cat back on. It was really loud and deep, but no one seemed to even look at me as I drove by, not even cops. I guess it is just where I live, people don't ever get hassled for having modified cars, unless you're driving like a jackass.
