    Need to light up my trunk better

    I wanna light up my trunk a little better cuz the stock like just sucks. I was looking on ebay and i found 25lef LED strips.

    I was wondering if i can hook that up to that stock wiring on the trunk light and use that as my trunk light?

    Yep. Any 12V source will do great. You can tap into the existing wiring or just remove and replace it.

    Good question, last week I extended the wires that goes to the trunk light and conected them to a 1157 sockets and used my 32 Leds bulb but they didn't work, then I put the regular 1157 bulb in the socket and they worked fine (the 32 led's are in working condition). I don't know why it was able to turn on the regular bulb but not the LED's?

    So if i could do that, i am sure i can get another one of those strips and put in in the rear (backseat up above) for interior lights. I could prolly just tap into the dome light wire harness.

    leds draw very little power so you should be fine.

    if you blow a fuse, first make sure everything is wired up, and then if it still blows a fuse, then you probably need to get a relay and run a power wire. especially with that dome light, i've blown so many fuses cuz of that light.

    LOL I hear you. I have blown that fuse under the hood that ties into the radio, door locks and all that other crap. It scared the shit out of me lol. What kind of realay? SPST? How would i wire it up?

    85-->groud
    30---> New power feed
    86--> original positive from dome light?
    87--> to new led strip?

    if you're gonna do the dome light, the negative switched from the dome should be the trigger. if u tap the positive, the led strip will never turn off

    ok so it should be:

    85-->new power 12V line
    30-->GRND
    86-->GRND trigger from original dome harness
    87-->GRND out to new led strip?

    Where does the led strip get the 12V power from?

    Well if it's a negative switch feed, then just any existing 12v + constant power source will do

    Alternatively, you could just tap into the door switches, thats a far easier option, that what I did for my interior LED's. For the trunk I just tapped off the original light

    the way i had mine wired up was

    30 - + 12v power wire
    85 - + 12v power wire
    86 - switched ground from dome
    87 - + 12v to the light

    SO i would have to run 2 new power feeds to the relay?
