Not for a long while, want to enjoy it for a bit first.

First impressions - 12psi on this turbo is like 18psi on the twins, with more top end

And I've got it running 16psi now

F$#king rapid sums it up pretty well.

4-g - most of the manual ones have a viscous rear, same unit as an evo 1-2.

Sweet, does it have much lag compared to the twins at all?

Also, are you still running the stock ecu ?

Hate to say it, but even with the plans I have going with mine, I don't think I'll get the same power you have.

has a manifold leak so its laggy as all hell before 5k rpm... as in im lucky to get 5psi by 5000 in second.

then you hear a whistly noise and the thing lifts up the nose and goes for gold

So long as revs are up its responsive. I sold one of my old vr4's to a mate, its now got downpipes, big cooler + piping, avcr etc, this thing would leave it for dead and his is as far as you could push the stock turbos.

Stock ECU at the moment, working @ nzefi now so will be getting a) dyno time shortly and b) a link in it once finances have recovered from xmas and getting this on the road.

Awesome job, man, glad to see it up and running again. I always wondered what would give first if converted to RWD, the tranny or the engine. How do you think the drive train held up?

A long term goal i have is to convert to AWD after doing the engine swap. and also playing with the RWD thing.

Easier option might be shipping a shell over to the US from here or japan maybe?

Just bring it in complete, then swap over the dash + steering rack - voila, LHD TT galant. I've seen it done with lancer evos (early ones) and they are very very simlar in a lot of respects - the galant is just the overfed big brother

Car is still running happily. Have gotten the boost a bit more tame now, makes about 8psi by 4k and full boost by 4500 - gear dependant though. Great fun to drive - 80km/h to 120km/h in about 3 seconds so I'm grinning :D .

Now just weighing up whether to sell it, or get injectors + ecu and go for big power.

Wellll finally got a short video online - pretty crap though

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwOJeNk1PyY

Was on 10psi, worlds most silent wastegate at the time. All sorted now and much louder :D . Will see if I can get any done showing revs / speed / boost etc. We've timed it doing approx 4.5 seconds (using video!) 0-100 with 2 on board on 12psi so in my books the swap was worth it.

Aaaand made a decision too - car is up for sale at the moment (here if anyone is interested, welcome to new zealands version of Ebay http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=100162223). Looking to update to an 8G VR4 - can't argue with the 500cc's extra with no extra weight.

Pretty much. Automatic E84A VR-4s can be had in good tidy condition for as little as NZ$2000 (US$1500 approx). A manual one can be picked up for around $4000 upwards. E39A VR-4s are still fetching over $5000 for even rough condition ones - it's insane, purely because no more can be imported into the country. Same case for E84A's - but they just aren't as desirable for some reason.

I picked up my '93 E54A MIVEC V6 7G Galant for NZ$1500, but it had minor panel damage and had 193k on the clock when I got it:

I also picked up my '94 MIVEC Galant for $500, under the impression it had run a big end bearing or two. Turns out it snapped a couple rods and broke some pistons. But still it was a cheap car:

More pics of both the cars here: http://s97.photobucket.com/albums/l230/te71se/

Here in NZ we are basically flooded with used Japanese imports. However since 2002ish the government stopped cars which didn't meet a certain frontal impact standard into the country - so as a rule of thumb usually a pre 1996 car now cannot be imported from Japan.

Only fault is rear turbo has seized, estimate cost from Diesel and Turbo to fix is $700.00

That's just the labour cost - they are such a c**t to get to at the rear. There's hardly any space between the rear head and the firewall.

Yay for trademe. NZD to USD is about 60c US is $1 kiwi or thereabouts. Got a vid from outside the car now, fixed the dodgy boost controller so full boost from about 4 - 4500 rpm or so and the thing actually vents when its meant to!
