    Step two: Turbo time

Well after much much reading and thought I have decided to start installing my turbo setup. I think ive got everthing ready to go.

One thing I am unsure about is where to tap for the egt sensor. I was going to install it in the #1 runner but after reading posts on dsmtuners There were alot of people who recommended to install it after the turbo incase it breaks so it wont ruin the turbo. Where would you suggest I mount it?

eH ... Mine is on my number 1 runner. I also read about installing it after the turbo for the same reasons but didnt think it was too common of an issue to worry about. Plus you will get a more accurate reading from the number one runner.

I'll agree with seth on this one. #1 runner is the best place for it.

    My setup:

    Not pictured

    Downpipe
    440cc injectors
    Buncha gaskets
    Fmic
    2.5 intercooler piping
    1g bov
    2g intake tube
    New copper manifold studs

    I think thats it.

The injectors are high impendence from a Wrx
As far as tuning it'll prob. be maf translator
No boost controller. Is it really needed? I plan on running the stock boost

    Wideband O2 Sensor?

Edit: Be careful with that oil return line. I could not get the stock line to work on my setup, it was too short. Just a head's up for you.

glad to see you coming along.

egt in the #1 runner ftw.

i've been running mine for two years now.
i pull my probe every now and then to make sure its fine...
and it looks exactly the same as it did the day i bought it... every time i pull it.
    i don't see it breaking.

now... with that said.... if it gets to the point where my egt probe melts off and destroys my turbo... it woudl be safe to say my engine woudl have already ate it at that point, so fuck the turbo cause it woudl be dead anyways.

    Plugs?

I like to know the fuel system is up to the task and would do a fuel pump, Areomotive FPR (optional), and pump rewire (to easy to be optional). There are a few who "got away with it" on other sites, but it would suck to run lean and fry shit. I think even laxin got a 255 lph walbro...

Other than that and the stuff listed ^^^(and possibly vvv), it's on... :smt023

don't get the 255 w/o a adjsutable fuel pressure regulator.

btw, i have my old fpr and install kit f/s if you want it. its 1:1 boost dependant.

Ive already rewired the stock fuel pump, but had plan on buying a 190

I ended up using a line from extremepsi that actually looks very similar to the one you have in that pic. Good luck with everything and if you need any help don't be afraid to pm me. :smt045

For the boost gauge I was told I want to tap the "P" line and not the manifold to fpr line. But use the the manifold to fpr line for the bov line. Is this right?

you need to have a dedicated line for your bov.

thats not really an option with the manifold on the car. i would not run it off the throttle cause the orifices are so tiny.

best woudl be to drill a hole and tap it. on the back side of the manifold where it won't be seen(stealthy, clean)

thats what i did for my MAP sensor.
i wish they were all hiding back there. woudl keep even moreplumbing outta sight.

btw, as an added precaution(not neccesery) coat the threads of the nipple you use with a thin coat of jbweld or grey rtv. just to ensure a permanent seal.

Ok so I started install things today and noticed, I dont know were one of the coolant lines goes to. It has a fitting for a banjo bolt on the end. Were does this bolt to? The other one I have running from the throttle body.

    Heres a pic

The line is located on the back of the turbo btw.
    Another pic

Its either the water feed or the water return line. The front and back sides of the center section should be tapped for the water lines, one goes in the front, the other is in the back. Just make sure you get the right size banjo bolts and get brand new crush washers before you install them or else it will leak.
