the turbo is defiantly going to get you more power you should not turbo a stock motor with 12:1 compression so unless you plan on building the motor with forged rods and 63/64 spec pistons if you use the evo head your going to need to stay N/A

as far as top numbers hp/tq wise a fully build turbo motor > fully built N/A motor

Is the G your working on going to be your daily driver?

yes for now, I also have another car I could use. But this is what I'm thinking.......... Still keep my bottom end, changed it to a 5spd, do the evo8 setup w/16g turbo(of course) Get forged piston(weisco), rods, and all that needs to work with and evo8 setup. What do u all think? Sounds good or am I missing something here??? Any more I deas?? Optima.sonata is good too but I wanted to see how it would work out with the evo setup. :P

so I might end up doing the evo8 head with the evo 9 turbo setup, sound good? or the evo 8 head and the evo 8 turbo setup?

well the evo 9 turbo is bigger than the evo 8 turbo
so since its bigger i guess it has a better compression so in the end it gives out more boost

but since ive searching i did not once come upon a evo 9 engine , even less a evo 9 turbo setup

ok, so I guess I'm sticking with the bottom end and use the evo 8 setup. Now would I pass smog with all this mods?? I live in CA, the worst place u can be for smogging a car. Or any suggestions?

Use the Optima/Sonata head if you're determined to boost your motor and keep the bottom end stock with the DOHC.

I've done my research since I'm doing this same set-up when I finish school. Only difference is Im using the EVO head cuz Im actually building the motor to the right 64/63T specifications. And Im running a 35R and water/meth injection

Personally Im camming and boosting the stock SOHC and see how much power I can push out of this motor without blowing it up. Thats due to Im a student on a budget and have a heavy foot. Plus, if everything goes as planned, I can swap the boosted SOHC into my daily (If I get another G for a daily) while I swap the monster set-up in my 2000.

5-speed would be a good choice also. I mean you could run a HSTC but theres no launch like a manual can. And you can also push the motor to the end of the powerband than shifting to early with an auto.
