depends on what the noise is.
if its lifter noise (which it probably is), some is normal. mitsu allows up to 2 minutes of lifter tick on a cold start.
make sure you change your oil regularly, and you keep the level correct.
I've notice that when I have my car running the engine ticks. What is that and how do I fix it? Thanx alot

i AM a mitsu mechanic.
have been coming up on 11 years.
See, that's what I'm talking about.
They make lifter fluid for noisy lifters.
Make sure you're not low on oil.
I remember running my car at 135 mph for about 7 minutes on low oil and 2 weeks later it was a new 4g64 for me. You learn a lot growing up, lol
yes, but its basically just a viscousity inprover.Originally Posted by Jesse
the best fix for this is to not let it happen. dont let the engine run low on oil, and make sure you change it regularly.
used CD2 valve lifter treatment once in my mitsu galant sigma with 194,000 miles and lifter noise disappeared immediately even during the cold starts of single digits michigan winter last month.
make sure you are using the proper weight oil, 10-40 won't lube the cam on a cold start as well as 5-30 especially if it is a synthectic blend
