    Oil Pan

    Hey is the 7G oil pan sealed with that silicone looking shit or is it also a gasket? I think I need new of whatever but I want to know what I am looking at before I have it pulled out. Thanks

    RTV silicone...either buy some from Mitsubishi or use Permtex brand type of silicone.

    so which is it? RTV or is it a gasket? OR is it a gasket sealed on with RTV?

    DSM guys often use both a gasket and a light coat of RTV on both sides. That's what I'd recommend. Permatex Ultra Grey is OEM-equivalent.

    factory sealed with silicone.
    there is no gasket.

    use ultra grey permatex.


    the mitsu stuff is very expensive. but there is NO substitute for it.

    Felpro makes a gasket, but it sucks, just use ultra grey and give it time to cure.

    Interesting, I didn't realize that. I use the gasket and RTV anyway though.
