GDI Engine

Got a late 98 with an GDI engine and experiencing some minor problems.

When idling the car, the needle goes below 1k rpm and when overtaking, the car starts to stutter the harder i stepp on the pedal. I was told to rev the engine for a while to clear out the clogging, but i would like a "better" way to fix this.

How is the coolant level?
Have you been noticing coolant leaking?
WHen does the car start overheating?
How is the engine performance when acclerating?
When was the last time you had your cooling system flushed and serviced?


These questions are important to answer to get a better idea what could be the problem.
