850 T5 steal!

So I found another 850 for 600 + The Delta and my dads jaw dropped when he saw the trunk. I'm looking to be in it by next week. We're having it checked out at our Volvo specialist right now... I only had to put down a 100 dollar deposit and pay for the tow. This is a steal. The other Volvo he had there was going for 5800! It wasn't even a T5! Anyways, onto pics!

And through the mud you can see T5! The guy has no idea what he has in his lot! This is the super-high performance 850...

It's a intercooled 2.3 liter inline 5 cylinder turbo. It's the top of the line right next to the R, which is a luxury-performance package... this is pure performance. They are really fast... And sexy once they get cleaned up...

Uh, no? This is one of the last years where they were "hot". The generations of Volvo's after this all are computerized and have soft-touch turbo's which means they are computer controlled and TOTALLY not worth even trying to modify at all.

It's actually not purple, these are cell phone pics in bad lighting, once I get it back from my Volvo specialist I'm going to fully detail and take a lot better pictures.

It's right next to the dirt road that goes straight through the car lot, so when it rains, they were throwing mud on it going by.

what the stock hp on the 5 cylinders ?? my 2.3 4 cylinder i think is somewhere around 160-170 if my memory services me right and im only at 5 psi with a cat-back and a boost turned to 12 i should be around 200-220

what turbo comes on that one ?? if this is the front wheel drive then i wanna say its the mitsu 15G, correct me if im wrong

Yeah, it's the 15g. Stock it comes with about 225 hp. I can get the "R" tuned ECU and get 240. But these are easy to mod and can push some pretty decent numbers with a little bit of work. These are the Police cars over in the UK, well at least the T5 family is. I'm sure they've moved onto the S60's and V70 R by now.

nice pick up im looking to buy a third car so i can play a lil with the volvo or buy a different volvo and make it my new toy

i wanna get more involved with the volvo but gotta wait till i finish my turbo project with the G first

Nice find! Yeah, not a lot of people know about these turbo bricks. I sure wouldn't unless a former galant owner friend of mine didn't have one.

Yeah, these Volvo's can be very temperamental unless the modding process is done in order. My first step is a full tune up, oil change, check timing belt, replace hoses. Then I'm thinking intake/exhaust, brakes, boost controller, boost gauge. I'm doing things slowly because of funds and I can't break this one!

For real, no one expects these grocery getters to get up and go like they do. I expect to be pushing 260 hp without a turbo upgrade.
