Cv Axle, Grease Everywhere- Boot Loose?

hey guys, i own a 1995 mitsubishi galant "s" and I just noticed today when working on my car that its spitting grease all over on the passenger side and it seems to be coming from the "cv axle" which I had replaced less than 2,000mi ago, it looks to me that the front of the boot (thinner part) the boot slipped back past the notch and has to be loosened and put back in place. What I want to know is if this slipped up could the grease be coming from there because I didn't see a rip in the boot. Should I just clean up the grease with a rag and try to move back in place or what do you recommend?

Clean it up and put it back.. If you can't see a rip or tear in the boot then it should be fine..

Get it replaced if its under warranty still, you can grease it back up and seal it but who knows how long you have been driving like that, especially if youre saying theres grease all over the place already. hopefully its a free ninety free replacement.

As long as it doesn't look like this, you should be fine:

I will try to find the reciept, I bought it from advanced auto so I dont know how long the warranty would be, but my car has sat in my garage for about 3 years now with the new cv-axle on it, i changed it just before i put it away. I am going to take my tire off tomm and clean it up and see if i can reattach the boot where it should be.

    - Let me ask you guys, I have the KYB AGX shocks on the front/back and my front drivers side looks like the bottom of the shock is almost coming out of the mount, like it got loose and is about to pop out, so my pass side is leaning lower because the drivers side is raised up from the shock being jacked up outta place. Any idea if I should replace the shock or just loosen the bracket that holds it in and test it. Makes nasty noises while I drive!

3 years!!??!?! Then you should be SOL....

the easiest and best way to secure your new CV boot: zip ties of 1/4" thickness. just yank REALLY HARD on them.

chance is they will outlast your boot for next replacement.

NOT regular plastic zip ties...you need to use the metal clamp ties.
