I still did'nt fix my overdrive problem yet . And now I found a new one!I have driven and owned A/T cars before. and I know that when you turn the ignition, it will not start when its in gears. it will only start on either PARK or NEUTRAL. But mine does. It start on all gears! P,R,N,D,L1,L2. I need a help please. I know its not normal. well, if its normal then mine is unique! can anyone here help me please. i just want to know what is wrong with it. I just bought the car 3 weeks ago. now problems are showing up. besides that anyway car runs smooth. NO CEL so far. thanks and please help.

thanks for the reply. i went to the mechanic and he said the best solution is to change the tranny. he check the overdrive switch and it works ok but the overdrive still dont activate. I was adviced by to check on the TCU and hgave it scanned if it still works. i'll try on that next week.

sounds like a faulty TCU or exposed/destroyed wiring which would be located by the shifter linkage on the trans itself. you could check the TCU and open it up and see if any of the capacitors are leaking as it does happed. what year is it?

    1. start car ( IN NEUTRAL THIS TIME, PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED)

    2. Let it warm up to operating temperature ( its the gauge on the right side of your instrument cluster)

    3. After it gets to middle of the gauge, pop your hood ( theres a lever in front of your left knee )

    4. now, if your battery is where is supposed to be and not in your trunk, then below that to the right there is a dipstick for the transmission

    5. get a clean shop rag and carefully pull it out, it will be pretty warm becuase were at operating temperature, right?

    6. using a CLEAN NEW TOMMY HILFIGER or ABERCROMBIE T-Shirt, wipe the dipstick off

    7. reinsert the dipstick in the hole you pulled it out of. Yes that one. Just put it in there already.

    8. now pull it back out....

    9. DON'T WIPE IT OFF

    10. on one side of the dipstick there is the word HOT in between two lines. There should be fluid on the dipstick and it should go up into this HOT area somewhere.
    A. IF ITS UNDER THE AREA, ADD A SMALL AMOUNT AND RECHECK AFTER A FEW MINS UNTIL YOU ACHIEVE THE PROPER LEVEL. DO NOT OVERFILL IT, JUST GET IT GOOD ENOUGH

    B. IF IT IS ALREADY FILLED TO THE PROPER AMOUNT-

    1. You can go to your bank, pull out 1,500 dollars, and drive the car to a transmission specialist like Ammco or Cottman, etc. They are going to charge you about 1500 dollars to basically remove and install a brand new transmission using all new parts. And that transmission will break just like this one did, becuase they are really shitty transmissions.

    2. OR- park it on the edge of a cliff, leave it in neutral, take your expensive crap and speakers out, anything you can part for money, and push that bitch into car heaven becuase trust me, she doesn't want to live anymore.

    a. now go put a down payment on a KIA or a Hyundai with a badass warranty so when the transmission fails, which it probably won't do, but then you won't have to worry about it becuase they will fix it and give you a thousand apologies becuase they are an honest company that isn't owned and operated by a bunch of aristrocratic douchebags.

and my advice to everyone is DO NOT BUY USED 7G GALANTS.

seriously, I want to sell mine but I can't honestly do that and sleep at night knowing that I totally fucked someone over. In fact, I'm wondering how the Mitsubishi Sales people sleep at night....

wow! i think its a good idea to just let it off the cliff. LOL. I finally went to mitsubishi center this morning and have it scanned. code reading: failed PCSV (pressure controlled solenoid valve). they recommended to have a new one installed or find used tranny of same model.

How about not starting the car in any gear but park? Just sounds way too simple?

But in all seriousness, I have accidentally started two cars in the incorrect gear, a 92 toyota camry (when I owned it over 10 years ago), and a couple years ago in my 7G. However, my tranny is acting perfect, so I'm not sweating it, considering the beating I give the car, I'm suprised and proud it hasn't crapped out yet.
