mine sounds like that but much quieter because i added in a resonator and took off my headers (i had an MPHUnlimited downpipe w/ no cat). also i have a V6 w/ 2 mufflers.

it sounded nice ...but he had other stuff done "2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with RRE Headrs, Fujita intake, and AERO Turbine exhaust. " ...im not tryna go all out yet ...just wanna put a rear muffler that have a lil sound and look good also;)

also you said you have a I4 which would not sound like the v6 at all. I still think you should keep inlet stock and outlet 1 or 2 sizes up with turbo internals it would probably yield best sound without sounding rice or without a full kit.

or just put a coffee can on if you're going bigger :-P
