hi im ready to start building the motor now that my wire tuck and shaved bay is almost complete im using the hyundai head i have a few questions
1.wat pistons would you suggest and rods they have to b forged (will evo forged pistons fit)?
2. is there an clearance issues with the stock head and bottom end
3.if not im going to be running 272 cams is there any issues there due to the head swap?
thanks
Search X 10
in short to answer them
1. Evo Rods Yes, Pistons NO (SEARCH)
2. No Issues with clearance
3. Makes no sense what your asking. You can use any EVO cams.

You really need to use the search feature. You can use any exhaust/intake cam for your head swap as long as it is made for the Evo. There are different durations: 264, 272, and 280.
omfg i ordered a set of pistons from roadrace engineering 3 months ago and still no pistons and they still havent even had them made yet they said wiseco is closed for some reason .... but they said if i had an evo head they could get me pistons right away
sooooo wat i need from u guys is two things please i really need ur help and i cant find out the info 1 wat is the main diff between the evo head and hyundai EX. valve reliefs ccs and is theere anything different about the valves or how far they come out?? 2. could i get a piston specced for an evo head would that work?? and if so wat would i need to tell them since it is a hyundai head....also im running 272 cams and a garret gt35r so wat compression ratio should i run they said 8:8:1 and i could run 30lbs of boost all day...
thanks your opinions are greatly appreciated

Ya, the people at RRE are complete dicks. Even when you go in person to the shop, you are likely to be waiting a few hours for someone to get you something. Dont even ask about getting a car worked on there... if you are having them work on a Galant, you are the last on their list, just ask Krazie how long we/he waited to get his car done that one time. RRE's priorities is the Eclipse (turbocharged models) and Evo's anything else means nothing to them.
A ricer is someone who believes that lights, stickers, useless parts, stupid driving and any other abnormal or dangerous driving habits help them in their need for speed or attention.
i heard that wen u do the dohc swap u need to retard one of the cams does anyone know exactly what the deal is since im getting ready to start up my fully built dohc turbo beast but i dnt wanna crush the valves on startupp lol answers would be greatly appreciated thanks
You dont need to retard the cam, you need to retard the cam gear. here is why...
The EVO bent was less teeth on the belt the DOHC timing belt, you need to use the timing belt from a 94 Galant GS DOHC. Since the 4G64 block is taller than the EVO block and the belt has a different tooth count, you need to adjust the cam gears just to fit the belt properly. If not, the belt wont tension right and you will never get it all to line up. I have my exhaust cam set at zero and intake cam at about -7 or -8. Again this is JUST THE GEAR being set at zero, the cam itself is still near stock in its timed location. So what you do is hold the cam still using a 14mm wrench on the bolt and then just spin the gear part backwards.

well this sucks cuz i just bought an evo 8 greddy belt ....damn so i need a 94 dohc galant one? and do they have performance ones? if not do u think a oem belt can handle 700 hp? does it matter wat gear u move? ex intake or exhaust?
what exactly are u putting in to try and reach that much power??????
ugg do i have to list it lol
right now i have a 4g64 block with cosworth sleeves
h beam eagle rods
custom 8:8:1 c/r wiseco pistons
all of my bearings are cosworth bearings
ported and polished hyundai head evo titanium springs and retainers
hks 272 cams
magnus race intake manifold
90mm skunk2 tb
44mm tial sports wastegate
perrin high flow fuel rail
r/c 1000cc injectors
invidia headers
precision 6262 sp ballbearing turbo
3 ply cosworth head gasket
aeromotive fpr
o yea and aem ems
the oem belt might be able to handle 700hp but the trans unless built will never hold that kind of power.
about the belt im sure it'll hold fine but you'll just have to replace it more often.
1. Skunk2 does not make a 90mm EVO throttle body, only 68mm, better off using a Q45 TB.
2. You will need +1mm valves if your running a ported head, high flow manifold and have 700whp goals.
3.You might need larger injectors, might.
4.The invidia manifold for the EVO is meant for a stock turbo, you cannot run it with the 6262SP.
5. Make sure the cosworth headgasket is a large enough bore, you cant run a headgasket only meant for an EVO motor, the 4G64 has a larger bore, you need either a cometic headgasket, HKS headgasket or a modified OEM headgasket (AMS sells them) all available to accomodate the 4G64 motor with a .020 overbore.
6. HKS272 cams are over rated.. I know because they are still in my motor. Just because parts are expensive doesnt mean they all work well or are worth the investment. Looking at your parts list, your throwing around alot of cosworth and HKS, be careful what you invest in. Kelford cams are just as good if not better than HKS and they cost less. Do a search on EVOM, there is a whole thread with back to back to back cam tests.
7. Eagle H beam rods are rated for 800 crank horsepower. If your looking to make 700 wheel horsepower, you will be pushing those rods to their limits. You may want to consider manley turbo tough rods, pauter rods or crower rods. I personally would stay away from pauter because they are made for like 1000+ horsepower and they are heavier than the rest. I know people have made over 700whp on eagles and been OK, but it doesnt mean its a good idea.
8. Why are you sleeving the block? Completely overkill unless your block has damage and you need to bore it soo much to correct it, that you NEED to sleeve it. I can only recall seeing a few sleeved motors over on EVOM and all of them were to correct a damaged block or for cars with goals of 1000+awhp and 45psi.

BTW 4g64 can only be bored .20 over not more. 4g63 can go .80 over i believe. You said "right now i have a 4g64 block with cosworth sleeves", show me a pic as i call a Flap!
