    SOS HELP MY 6 gen

    can anyone help me with my 6gen. i want to figure out how to do an engine swap to a 6 gen tips

    ^I thought All 6th gens Vr-4's where all AWD, unless you dont have a vr-4

    im not a vr-4. sohc 8 vavle. fwd. base model

    did a quick diag. coolant is green. belts are good. fuel pumps works. check the spark plugs they look good. i will be pulling the oil pan sometime this week.

    what type of engine did you find pete? price and mileage?

    Also you said there is a chance it hydrolocked I would take apart block and check internals for water residue I doubt you are locked, but water residue can be causing an issue.

    What exactly is wrong with the motor?

    When you say motor swap...do you mean to maybe a DOHC 4G63?

    he told me he got a 1g motor so its dohc, but he neglected to say if it was n/a or turbo. if its n/a its still an upgrade from the 8v head, but i do wanna know what happened to the engine that its blown.

    He thinks he may have hydrolocked as it happened on a wet night. I think I was the first person he texted and I have been trying to help him diagnose. You know if the 1G GSX has the same tranny bell housing like would a fwd eclipse tranny bolt up? Cause I found one locally for 700 rebuilt. Either way I believe he got it from a GST or at least that is what my text from him says.

    i got the motor from a gs. i want a gst but for now a gs is fine. 350 for the motor ,mounts and wiring harness. its a 4g63a. dohc 16 vavle. i only need the ecu . i got to get on working on the 6g. between work and the hoilday i havent had time to take a look.

    i believe a few pins are off and should be swapped just like us 7gers do to use the 2g ecu

    But that's a 7g trying to use a 2g ecu, 6th gens should be able to use a 1g NA ecu with no problem. If VR4 and turbo 1Gs are interchangeable I don't see why the N/A cars would be any different.
