2.4 dohc with pt cruiser pistons.

I got to thinking about the 2.4s that come in the srt4s or pt crusier turbo. our 4g64s are 2.4 liter also so i did some research to see if the pistons were compatible in any way. it turns out they are compatible and will work with our rods. they are maybe a alternative for somebody on a build with a more strict budget. our rods are the same as the 4g63s and the 4g64 crank is very strong. so one can picture what a 2.4 dohc turbo on e85 with a flashable 98 ecu say running 20 to 25 psi would lay down for numbers. i may just have to find out :-)

what about the SRT4 pistons from a Neon or Caliber? I would imagine since those are little burners compared to the PT Cruiser....I am betting they have stronger internals. All are 2.4's....so....just a thought

the srt4 and pt cruiser turbo share the same motor do they not? (correct me if im wrong)

well thats why I was asking...I wasnt sure either. But the SRT4's are the sought after cars for performance....not the PT. Just didnt know if they were detuned or used slightly different internals. Cool.

I'd sure want some better rods to go in with those pistons. What do the SRT-4 rods like?

the pt cruiser/srt4 pistons do not fit out blocks. These are used mainly for 420A Dodge engines fitted in Eclipse RS and GS. Its because the bore is 87.5mm and the extra .4L of displacement is achieved with higher stroke.

The idea is a no go. Its all over DSM tuners, I researched it 2 years ago

oh i read on tuners and now i cant find the post that it was compatible. i trust your word though. i thought our pistons were 86.5mm

correct, they are not identical bore, pistons will not fit
