If you are low on oil yes you'll start hearing them more because they run off of oil pressure.

Hello everyone, I have a 2003 galant 2.4L/4 cyl. and recently I have had an issue with the low oil pressure warning light as well as tappets in the engine.
The oil light only seems to come on when I brake or I'm coming to a stop. But the oil levels are fine and the oil and filter have been changed in the last month. The tappets in the engine seem to have arisen around the same time (last week) and I can really only hear it when I am going up hills or idling at a stop light.
Is it possible that these two issues are related? Am I looking at a severe engine problem or (hopefully) something that could be fixed quick and cheap. I usually take my car to Firestone (I know...not many people have good thoughts about them), but I refuse to take it to them (or anyone else for that matter) without knowing a little more about this issue. I too sometimes feel like I pay way more than necessary, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

Your oil level is either too low, or your oil pump is on its way out. The low oil light comes on a result of low oil pressure. The low pressure can be caused by not enough oil in the pan or by the pump not working right.

Either you oil is low, the pump is about to go, your oil pressure switch is bad, or the wire that goes to the oil pressure switch broke off and when you stop and go it swings and gets grounded to either the manifold or the engine block thus why the light blinks on stop and go.
Not how fast your car goes but how good u drive going fast.
