    Gear problems on 98 galant

    I'm having a problem on my dads 98 galant I was wondering if anyone can help me? When the car in park and you want to shift into drive it doesn't switch over its like something is hold it back. I would have to keep shifting gears from park to drive till it stays in drive. It gears only move from park,reverse and neutral. I would have to keep changing the gears till it stays in drive.
