I don't know how close they are to the v6 timing belt. But just make sure the belt is pretty tight befofre pulling the tensioner pin.

DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS STEP!
Also since your at 144k, I recommend you get a new auto-tensior.
2001 5 speed 4g64T
yaaaa i ordered the new auto tensioner.....thanks for the good info
Im thinking about diving in on this one too, for both G's BTW
can anyone chime in on how to go about changing the camshaft seal?
^Is it leaking? But your haynes manual should tell you exactly what to do for that. I got a tip for ya lol get some floor dry or cat liter.. when you pull off that water pump, it sounds like a water fountain lol lots of radiator fluid comes out, even though you drain it because its stuck in the water neck/pipe thing.
idk i havent pulled the timing cover..... but i figured since im there might as well especially since you can only change it with the belt off
need any help? i can make a trip out there
Took my top timing cover off to peek at my belt and when I removed the rear lower bolt, it was soaked milk chocolate. WTF... im 2.4L
how do I know if the tension on both the BS and timing belt is correct?
I just ordered the timing tools of Chbuzz
I saw this on the timing tutorial
"now to check to see if your tension is correct youll need to crank the engine over a few times and go back to the pin you set in the hydraulic tensioner, if you can remove and replace the pin with ease your tension is correct. if you cant remove the pin and replace it without a lot of effort you need to re tension the blue pulley until you can remove and replace that pin into the hydraulic tensioner."
would this be a solid method to make sure tension is good?
