    Mitsubishi Galant 2,5 V6 6G73

    Hello.

I am planning to do a engine swap for my 95 Galant 2.0 V6. Since I am quite new to Mitsubishi I have a few questions.

The current engine in my Galant is the 6A12 2.0L V6.

    1. Does a 2.5L V6 6G73 engine fit right in, or do I have to change a lot of the wirering, sensors, etc.?

    2. Does a normal 2WD tranny match the 6G73 engine, or does it has to be a 4WD?

    Thanks

    -Patrick.

Is there a particular reason why you dont want to do a 6a12tt swap? If a 6g73 dohc swap is easily doable, you might as well put a 6g72tt in there.

Yes the reason why I dont put in a 6G72TT is that I not can get the car street legal here in Denmark. But with a 6G73 its not a problem.
But is the 6G73 a easy swap and does the tranny from my 6A12 fits right on?

    Thanks
    -Patrick

We don't have the 6A engines here in the States so finding a correct answer may be difficult. Couldn't you just swap to a 6A13 if you wanted to increase displacement?

Pretty sure a 6g72TT would require a massive amount of work to fit, let alone run correctly.

The 6g73 will fit right in w/o modification at all and you dont have to change the sensors or wiring. Both engines use coil pack ignitions unless you have 6a12 sohc. Then you have to change over engine harnesses from a v6 DOHC Galant.

There is no normal FWD transmission. the 6a12 trans matches the 1.8L 4g93 Galant trans bolt pattern, but it has different gear ratios. The 4g63 SOHC trans is in a class of its own since you dont have the 4g64 US made Galants and the 6g73 trans matches the 6g72 FWD trans off 3000gt. And no you cant use 4WD trans unless you have viscous coupler which is only used for dynoing AWD cars on 2WD dyno stand and its not for daily driving

    Thanks for reply.
Sounds great that the engine will fit right in.
But what about the tranny. Witch FWD will fit the 6G73 ?
I have two trannys with following numbers. Do anyone know if some of them fits?

If you have the engine and trans then you go ahead and see if the bolt pattern matches. If yes then good, if it doesnt then you need trans off FWD 3000gt

It has been done. The euro 6g73 dohc is the same layout as the old 6g72tt in the 3s.
