Rear driver side door latch problem

Hi all,
I got a 2000 Galant. My driver side rear door has an odd problem. I can open it up from the outside, but not the inside. Took the inside door panel off. The inside door handle works fine, and so no problems there. Bought a new latch and took out the old one. As far as I can tell, I installed it properly, and it still does not work. Anyone out there have a good vid of how they swapped the latch on theirs? I will try to provide pics but the door frame appears to be welded to the exterior door so I cant take it off to get a good pic of it. Any advice?? Thx.
