I can spray primer and base with no problem. But I suck at spraying clear lol.

    First coat

    Second coat of clear

There are few clear coat runs on the front bumper, a spot on the rear visor where a drop of water snuck past the water separator and got into the paint. And I knocked the grille of the stool after the first coat of clear and it got banged up so I put it aside so I can redo it.

I'm so picky about stuff I do. For example I redid a valve cover for a customer twice cuz I simply didn't like it. And when he got it he fell in love with it!!!

Stuff I do has to he a certain way. That's why I'm redoing the tint and gonna sand the hell out of the bumper to get rid of the clear runs.

So today I parked my car at the garage to hide it from the coming storm and compared the parts to rge car and the color is very close except the hood has a lighter shade since it came off of another car from the junkyard. But for now it will have to do until the spring.

Wet sanding with 1200, 1500, and 2000 will get the run out. I had to Westland a couple out of my galant. The paint looks spectacular. It's really hard to tell the difference in color until you get it on the car trust me. Also it's closeto impossible to match them 100% without blending.

Thanks u! My main concern is that I only sprayed 2 coats of clear and I'm afraid wet sanding then buffing will eat through both coats. So I'm think about wet sanding it and maybe spraying 2 more. What do u guys think??

If you're Worried about sanding though the paint, get the gray scotch BRITE pads, and scuff up the clear put another 2 coats onthen wet sand. Ialways do 3 coats, and have never sanded through

    Re: Project Bodega Beige

I need to sand out those runs before adding more clear. Would that Scotch bright be enough?? My runs aren't extremely bad but I really don't know much about wet sanding after paint.

Just wanted to know if I'm safe with 2 coats to wet sand then compound it.

Nah you'll have to sand the runs. Be careful. But you can hit the rest with gray scotch BRITE pads. Also, don't use compound, use fine cut cleaner, and then nu finish scratch remover then a polish. Then you can wax lol

Ok slow down lol. So I can just wet sand the runs and then use Scotch bright on the rest then fine cut cleaner, scratch remover, polish then wax?? Or do I need to wet sand the whole thing??

How thick did you lay the clear down?

Thick enough that i ran some spots on the front bumper and some on the rear. Definitely didn't spray dry.

I think you should be alright. Wetsand it slow with 1500, wetsanded clear looks milky in a sense. Once you feel it is smooth buff with a rotary on low with a wool pad and get to work. I used the Meguiars rubbing compund to get the sanding marks out. I have yet to polish with the foam pad. It's easier than it sounds. Make sure you pay attention to what the water looks like and keep the paper WET WET WET. If you start seeing color STOP! Once everything is smooth you should be ready to buff it and just take your time. A smaller buffer probably will work best on the bumper. I used a 7" and the bumpers were a little tough to get to.
