    Rear shock installation?!?!?!?

One of my rear shocks broke. Yes, the inner rod snapped at the upper mount just below the nut. I was able to get it all apart and install the new shock into the spring but now I cannot get it onto the car, it is too long to go into the lower mount or even over the lower control arm. I tried pushing down on the hub but not even close. I have looked in three manuals including the mitsu and none say tha tthe spring needs compressed to install on the car? Does anyone know if I must compress the spring or maybe just disconnect the upper link to get the hub to fall low enough?!?!?

OK, I'm an idiot!!!! I just saw a video on youtube and I was trying to go over the lower control arm when I should have been feeding it up from the bottom through the lower control arm. DUH!!!
