Need OEM Shock body length and travel

I'm want to find out what the OEM shock body length and travel are for a 7g and an OEM 7g AWD if possible. Can someone measure these? I seem to recall they are actually different lengths compared to the 2g Eclipse. I remember my car sitting funny when I first built it due to the length difference but don't remember which way it went.

Why should anyone care? I'm trying to find out if Bilstein makes an HD shock that will work for our cars. They don't list one but they may make one close enough to work. As an example, my buddy Rick found that 3000GT rear shocks work on a 1g Eclipse with some minor work.

How do you find the travel of a shock?

The travel/stroke would be the difference between fully extended and fully compressed length. Six inches is a common stroke length (...and dirty jokes may commence now.)

I asked similar info on DSM Tuners related to the 2g DSM and this was the response.

The FSM shows the stroke for any 2G front is 118 mm; rears are 154 mm for all models except the Spyder which is 169 mm stroke.

Using NAPA's part interchange system, the extended lengths show as:
    Front - 39.39 cm
    Rear - 53.39 cm
I can't find this info in the FSM for the Galant but I'll check NAPA for the extended length.

EDIT: Wish I'd known about the NAPA info earlier. I could have answered my own question fast.

NAPA's OESpec Monroe front strut body is 13.25" the full strut 13.75" compressed length and 18.375" extended and a 4.625" stroke.

NAPA's OESpec Monroe rear has a 14.25" body, 14.625" compressed, 21.625" extended and 7" travel.

I'll get the mounting info and give Bilstein a call.

    RE-EDIT:

Comparing the Same Monroe shocks for 2G DSM vs. Galant:

    Car.......Location.....Body Length..... Compressed..... Extended....Stroke
    Eclipse....Front..............12.5"............... ...13".............17.625".......4.625"
    Galant.....Front.............13.25"............... 13.75"..........18.375".......4.625"
    Eclipse.....Rear.............14.25"............... .14.5"...........21.25".........6.75"
    Galant.....Rear..............14.25"............... 14.625"........21.625".......7.00"

So the front and rears are almost the same but the Galant has slightly longer shocks all around.

NOTE: The rear eyelet sleeve is 20x43 mm.

Called Bilstein this morning and so far found one promising shock for the rear. It is for a Porsce 914, #24-001793. It has a 13.25" compressed length and 21" extended length. Rebound is at 2,385 Newtons and compression is at 785 N. I didn't catch what speed those were measured at but if they are the same speed as the Eclipse these have much higher rebound than their stock AWD shock (1236 & 588).

The eyelet sleeve bore is 18mm instead of the 20mm on the DSM but a little machine work can fix that. I didn't get the eyelet sleeve length either.
