Do you have a tactrix cable where you could try ecuflash or evoscan for connectivity?
I needed to extend my 02 sensor wires for the new bungs on my new headers. There is 1 white wire, 1 blue wire, and 2 black wires. The black wires look the same, can't tell the difference between the two black wires. So I extended the wires and I must have switched the black wires up when I extended them. I plugged in the extended 02 sensors and the car would not start. I unplugged the 02 sensors and the car still would not start. I hooked up my OBDII scanner and it said it could not make a connection with the car. Did I fry my computer? The car cranks but doesn't start. I've been reading in the FSM but can't find anything yet. I'm stuck, I guess I'll start checking fuses.

Well I don't know if this is relevant to ours cars but we had this happen at the shop, in fact the car is at the VW dealer getting the immobilizer programmed for the new ecu. A new ECU solved the problem but it doesn't stay running because of the immobilizer. Our signs where shorted O2 sensor wires and symptoms were no throttle response (drive by wire) the car would start and idle but no throttle, and we had a CEL for bad tps. Solution replaced O2 sensor and ECU.
Links we found while scratching our heads.

Hopefully its not the ECU but if it is, I saw this being bumped around.

Thanks for the replys, I worked 13 hours today so tomorrow I will check fuses, spark, and fuel when the sun comes up.
I don't have any of that, I'm not set up for tuning yet
According to those links if the Galant is the same the ECU is toast, FML

If you end up needing an ecu, I have one sitting around for a 2001 Cali-spec V6 Galant.

So I'm a dumbass, I cut off the heat shrink off to check the wires and for some reason (it was midnight when I was soldering and I've been working alot at my jobs leading up to that night) I heat shrinked the white wire solder and a black wire solder together. Anyways after reading on a DSM thread the ECU does get fried but they have an easy fix.
Thanks, I'm sending you a PM

So I figured it out, I blew an engine fuse, I didn't see it the first time over everything. Engine started right up after I replaced the fuse. The O2 sensor is shot though, I will replace it on Thanksgiving. Thanks everyone for the input.

Glad to hear it was such a minor issue.

^^^ Actually had it not been for the fuse it could have been major. I continued to read up on the VW's and it turns out their ECU isn't circuit protected (wtf!) so any little short and its done, the fellas on the vw boards seem to be aware and unhappy about it.

^That's crazy, i'd throw a fuse on there if I owned a VW. Funny, I considered for half a day looking at a new Jetta as a new car for me. Glad I erased that crap from my mind.
