    different engine in 01 I-4

    did you guys know that the 01 I-4 galant has a different engine than every other galant and eclipse? would i still be able to do a manual tranny swap? what car will i have to use?

    If you're talking about the exhuast is different...then its different specs:

    Cali Spec
    Fed Spec


    ITS all the same engines. V6 and I4

    1999, 2000. 2002, 2003--2.4L engine
    2001--2.3L

    I think thats just a typo.
    edit: they also show it has 50 cc of less displacement.

    it has a different bore and stroke, too.

    although i am not a source, i just wanna give opinion

    i think that it should be a typo. like road and track, the 99 issue said that the V6 in 8th gens would be DOHC... its not.

    i dont think mitsu even has a 2.3L. note all the engine sharing they do. the new engine in the 9g is the same in their SUVs...

    i dunno. maybe im wrong. too lazy to look it up =)

    well i know all the 2k1 people have a big ass 2.4L on their valve covers, plus i dont see any visual differences in the engines, plus i never seen mitsu make a 2.3l engine

    no....from past experience....mitsu does not make a 2.3L i4. ASK ALL i4 members here in TGC, we are all 2.4L, i'm an 2001 and im very sure its 2.4

    It's a typo. There was never a 2.3L engine. The displacement of the engines never changed.
