First off no im not interested in doing the manual 5 speed swap. Already have a turbo 2G 5sp toy. Ive searched on every dsm, galant, mirage site and nowhere have i seen much info at all. The end clutches in my 7G 98 auto are almost shot and dont want to replace them. i plan to have the car on a mild turbo setup in the future. Nothing more than a 14b/s16g on 10psi with the appropriate mods for it fuel tuning etc. So i plan to upgrade to a gst auto tranny now along with some usual dsm maintenance.

What are all the parts you need from the 2G ?
So far im sure you'll need -
2G transmission
2G axles
2G tcu(plug n play?)
2G Flywheel ?
2G Torque converter ?
2G starter with the plate ?
2G Motor mounts ?
different pilot bearing ?
shims ?
trans cooler ?
Anyone done this before please share some info links etc. Thanks

2g trans will bolt with no modifications. Axles and all should fit. Just compare the trans electrical pugs between 7g and 2g. They should be the same, but do it just in case. No need to change the TCU
Axles are different so take the 2g axles(thicker on trans spline side) other than that should be all the same.

Flywheel, torque converter, starter plate can all stay the same ? And do you recommend adding a better trans cooler ?
Yes and I don't see why you would need a different one than stock if you are just swapping trannies.

As far as all the parts look u would need a 2g tranny and converter. On the engine side the flex plate should have the bolts holding it. As long as it does it will work with our auto flywheel. I will take a look around see if I can find anything. Sould just need the tranny, converter and axles to do the swap. I'll try and find some stuff tonight or tomorrow

Thanks a lot for the simple answer. I've searched everywhere and no one even goes into details about it at all. If that's all that is needed then the swap is a piece of cake.
Galanttuner- I was going to install an aftermarket cooler, the factory cooler that's on there now looks busted up, plus I want to have fresh atf for the entire trans, new lines, ipt end clutches. Just have it nice and neat ready for the swap. I'll post up pics of the 2G and hopefully progress of the 7g with a mild turbo setup. I have questions on that as well. Would like to get some opinions on the specific setup I'd like to run. Start a new thread or post it on here ??
Aftermarket cooler is a good idea. Go larger as well. Ur gonna need it.

So, the GST auto use a 4 bolt flex plate so you need to swap over everything with the trans. TCUs are different, I'm going to see if I can find a diagram of the pinouts to see if they are the same or easily interchangeable. For this much effort I have a spare 5 speed tranny lol

Rip out the dash and dealing with the firewall and have to put it all back together VS tranny swap with a tcu rewire. For a daily driver I'll take the auto. Slap a fp red or green on my 2G 5 speed lol. Also you'll need an upgraded clutch and Flywheel kit and "most" 2G manuals are abused. Gst auto tranny if taken care of are really reliable and the odds of finding one on an all stock car barely raced are greater than the kid who's parting out his 5 speed dsm because well... he's a kid
Still have to rip it all out to swap the TCU and rewire. The swap isn't bad but unless you build the auto it will not hold any decent power without being built. I've been in your position. I planned on keeping the auto and being turbo. Here I am 5 speed.

Boosting the car on a 14b at 10psi with a gst auto requires you to build the gst auto transmission ? And to get to the tcu on either car requires removal of the dash ? Holy cap this might be to much for me to handle..
I'm letting you know it won't hold a ton of power. The 2.4 makes power differently than the 2.0. Much more torque which is why they break things. Never saw what u planned on running for a setup. A 14b or s16g you will hate on the 2.4. I spilled a 20g by 2800 to 15 psi. Instaspool like crazy if smaller.
