    Intake questions

    I have a 2003 I4 es galant and I was looking into putting an outlander intake on it. What are the pros and cons of replacing mine and what do I need to grab from one in the junk yard if I do go thorough with it?
    What benefits do I get from replacing it?

    The pros would be it wont crack like the 8g one. Ive never done it put theres a full write up it somewhere just gotta search for it.

    Pretty much the main reason of converting to an Outlander intake is because of it's thicker design as well and the material used. The intake manifold that came with our cars were prone to cracking due to the thin metal just before the flange for the intake piping. Performance wise, I'm not sure if anyone reported significant improvements/losses.

    What questions did you have?

    Pros:
    - More strength/durability
    - Looks more cool? aha

    Cons:
    - Doing the install yourself/time xD

    What you need:
    - I know theres a write up somewhere; could also be on Club3G. From what I remember, the fuel rail should be one of the items needed.

    Would it improve gas mileage
    Smother idle?
    Improved response time
    Quieter or louder or neither
    Cleaner/more air in?
    What mods do I need to do to connect it to the car and air filter /maf

    What all do I need to convert mine over from the outlander
    (All pieces and parts needed for the switch)
    What year do I want to get it from (02-03?)

    Is there a better one

    Is it something I should do now or wait till it becomes a problem

    Possibly some others to I just can't think of right now thanks

    My may not be cracked
    And could this cause 13mpg

    (Outlander intake manifold or oem g I4 manifold)

    Searching up "cracked 8g intake manifold" should give you a visual with the first pic that shows up. It shows one of the more severe cracks that people have. 13MPG could be caused by several reasons but a cracked manifold could definitely be a possible cause. If a really cracked manifold was a problem, I'd imagine that you'd also have a CEL alongside it.

    The Outlander swap line posted above is probably the best how-to out there for it.
    However, you can use a V6 throttle body, see post here:

    When he says you need to reuse the "V6 iac" would that be pre-attached if I get one from the junk yard and I just need to use the same plug on my I4 now on the v6?
    (The intake is to complex for me right now I think I will start with this I4 to v6 tb for now)

    The v6 throttle body requires a v6 IAC and TPS. They will be attached to the throttle body if you're going to remove everything at once at the Junkyard - make sure of this. The 4cyl IAC gives you issues. Also, you will need to change the gasket (throttle body to intake manifold side) as well to a v6 one, as the 4cyl one will cause you to have a code thrown, as far as I remember. I personally changed the coolant hoses to the v6 coolant hoses as well, as they are different sizes and you might need to adjust yours or bypass the coolant lines altogether.

    When you install the throttle body to intake manifold gasket, make sure you line it up correctly, because you can end up putting it upside down as well and that can cause you car to have weird idle issues.

    Thank you that helps a lot. And for the connection to the IAC and TPS can I use the plugs of my I4 or do I need to cut and splice one off a v6 if so what color wire do I connect to witch

    They are plug and play. 4cyl connectors work with the v6 IAC and TPS.

    Mine did not have ABS either. No the brakes have no connection to our throttle body in the non-ABS 8gs.
