Since I sold my 94 Galant and my AWD one has been down due to some stupid stuff and the 3g Eclipse I had was kind of small for me, I went an bought a 9g ES with a 2.4L mivec as a daily. I really like the car and I dont get why these cars get so much hate. I didnt plan on modding it at all, but I came across some deals and couldnt pass it up.
I got Evo X Enkeis and some goodies from the higher trim GTS. I got the tails and the spoiler and a full leather interior in a great shape.

Congrats! As far as the hate goes: I think Mitsu was trying too hard in the design department to look like Nissan at the time, but they are good cars regardless. I also think while it will never be as agressive as a 7g or 8g, Mitsu cleaned up the design fairly well over the years. At 6-5 I'm also like you and appreciate the space more as well. I wouldn't mind a RA for daily if I could find one.
The 2004 and 2005 model years had that stupid front bumper design that's where most of the hate came from. From 2006 and onward they improved the look so it doesn't bother me at all. The GTS/Ralliart/SE trims you get the best buck for those cars. Still rides like a fat boat but hey at least it has navigation, right?
