Car is shifting hard after 1st gear...bad?

I will be accelerating (at a normal rate, NOT gunning it) and it will go through first shift fine (this is a auto tranny BTW) then it will shift a second time, and it will be rough, jerky, like a sort-of thunk like shift. Is this mean the tranny is saying bye bye...How expensive would a manual swap be?

Could this be fixed by replacing the engine mounts cause it also jerks a little when I shift from like revers to neutral to drive...its a 96 with 65k on it.

i'd suggest you get a tranny flush done, change the filer and gasket....that should help a ton...it did on mine, i was quoted close to 4K for a manual swap back when i was thinkin about it......
