All the mod requires is removing the hose, so if you did it you could always just plug it back in before it gets cold.

JTZ- I looked at the hoses for the mod on the TB, it would certainly be very easy to bypass/connect when in hot/cold weather.
When in bypass mode, just let any coolant drain out or should you cap it off(on the TB). I would think that if I were to let it drain out, then it might get crusty in the channel around the TB.
