Here's the scanned files of the old post. I printed them out when I saw them, then the board went down. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif

Rani - let me know if and when you update the tutorial, otherwise, I'll just use what Brenden put together. Thanks!

I just got my relays from UPS today and did this mod, it looks great, I didnt kill myself, and it actually worked the first time.

The passenger side wires are a pain in the ass to work with though.

Thanks for the info Reelax https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Radio Shack won't have the relays, but you can order them from crutchfield, the connectors you can get at radio shack.

Aight, I finally got the 2 spdt relays from crutchfield (they messed up my order and sent me the wrong shit, which I got to keep 8) ) and Im trying to do the rewiring now but Im confused...

The instructions say to "unclip the 2 outside wires and swap their positions then re-insert and plug the socket back into the harness and your done...almost". Okay, do I yank the 2 outside wires out and switch them OR do I cut them and wire them to the opposite wires? Someone clarify this cuz I don't want to fuck up..... :peace:

What you do is take a small screwdriver, like a jewelers screwdriver, and put it in where the wires go to the harness. There is a small clip in there where if you push it right the wire will come out. It takes awhile, it did for me, but you'll get it eventually.

All u have to do is to switched the wire left to right and right to left !! and also to know which is which u can wire 1 in and turn on u're parking light and see which is the bright 1.

i did the blinker mod and didn't like how it blinked it looked janky to me personally so I just got the regular bulbs running. At night you can't tell a difference in brightness at dusk you can tell a slight difference, but I am just gonna wire my fogs up so i can run them at dusk. Thanks for all you guys help though I really appreciate it it help me a lot in putting the mod together

Hey i was wondering if this mod could be done with any other type of relay? I jus bought this relay today from an auto parts store, the guy said this is the one i'm lookin for but looking at the tutorial i can tell its not the same. This is a "30 amp relay for auxiliary lights and horns" (thats what it says on the packaging) and it is 12 volt. It has everything like the tutorial except it only has one 87 instead of two. Can i still do the mod or should i return these?

i know that the stock wiring that it blinks brighter than when the lights are on normally does this mod reverse this and make the corners brighter when they are on all the time and when they blink they blink duller? if not is there a way to do this.

could i get the spdt relay from anywhere other than crutchfield?

go to kragen, they carry it, have them look it up in their parts catalog. Make sure they get you the right spdt relay, there are 2 types basically. At first they gave me the wrong one and I had to go back. On a different note, the only problem I ran into is this...I'm a good wiring guy, however after popping out the wires with a jewelry screw driver they don't want to fit as snugly anymore. I replaced my bulbs with some hyper whites, and the effect is excellent, but intermitent cuz sometimes the wires wiggle a bit out of place when driving down bumpy roads, which can make me lose my corner lights (not headlights, and the turn signals do still work). I'm thinking I might have to replace the turn signal harness, what do you think?

I found what the part number is, here's a post from when I posted on the bay area chapter

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>I just did reelax's blinker mod. It took me about 3 hours to do. The reason it took so long is because I couldn't find that specific relay for a very long time. The relay truly does matter. It has to have an 87a prong, not just an 87. However I have the exact product number for those that would like to do this mod. Go to kragen and get the DR169E relay. Just go to the parts counter and get 2 of them. They run about 15 each. So to totally finish the job expect it to cost around 40 bucks, cuz you'll need wire's, butt conectors, and other connectors. If I had all the parts like I do now it would have only taken me 15 mins tops. But its an excellent mod, love the result. </div>

I have a set of the SPDT relays for sale, one brand new and one used to install, but i didn't like the mod so i took it off so it was installed for a sec. I will let them go for $15 shipped.
