Yeah im getting mine from an 02' Eclipse. You can use any 3rd generation 200-2004 Eclipse 2.4 RS/GS tranny. You need alot of other parts too, if you can try to get them from the same car. Hey Auto-9 did you perform the 5 speed swap already ??????

OK here goes the list, im gonna try not to forget anything, but if I do feel free to correct me and add to the list

All parts can be obtained from any 3rd Generation (2000-2004) 2.4 liter Eclipse RS/GS with a manual tranny, MANUAL only not sportronic. Your best bet is to get them all from the same car (if you can) because they have been worn in together and probably work smooth, plus you can probably get a price break this way. It might not also be a bad idea to make some sorta template of the holes drilled in the Eclipse's firewall where the clutch pedal is gonna bolt up, because we dont have marks for them on our firewalls. By the way, in 1999 Mitsu produced a very small number (i think 200) Galant DE's with 5 speed trannys. parts from that car will work too, but you will probably have a better chance of finding Osama Bin Laden than you would finding one of those DE's. Good luck !

parts you need:

Transmission
Axles
ECU
Flywheel
Clutch master cylinder
Hoses and lines
Slave cylinder
Shifter
All shifter cables and linkage
Clutch
new factory throw out bearing
shift boot
shift knob
pedal assembly
starter (im not sure if the starter from the auto is the same as on the manual)

I have a feeling im forgetting something but im not sure, if am please feel free to add it. For the clutch and flywheel I would go straight for nice aftermarket upgrade parts. If you already have some motor work done and plan on doing more in the near future, there is no point in installing a stock clutch and flywheel that your gonna break anyway. ACT and Centerforce have nice clutch set ups. Findaza has a good flywheel. Im pretty sure the clutch is the same as the one from a 2g Eclipse GST. Please remember that your car most likely isnt a "true" race car and your not gonna need a crazy like ACT 2600 Clutch (no comments from you Shane). If you go with a clutch like that everyday driving is gonna suck and your left leg is gonna be in pain from stomping on it. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Remember, don't do your 5 speed swap and then drive your can like your in a rally race the next day, break in the tranny before you start beating on it, thats how shit breaks.

Nothing wrong using a 2600lb clutch, your just gonna have one strong as leg and one weak one..lol..

You're right, considering Mitsubishi never made any in production https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Hey Auto 9 no offense but your definetly wrong about that. I've seen one with my own 2 eyes driving and then coming to a stoplight and rocking to back and forth waiting to go. You can even ask Mike "nystreetracing" he has seen a couple out here on long island, it was produced and when i went to mitsu even the guy working the parts counter said that it was made and when you search the VIN number in the parts computer for a manual tranny, it comes up with the same part number as the 3rd Gen 2.4 eclipse. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

as for you bam, the install itself shouldnt be much more than $1,000. My local DSM shop quoted me $1,200 MAX, but im just gonna attempt it myself and then if i get stuck, i can always find help.

Well then, it's time to call the poor workers at Normal, IL liars as well as Mitsubishi headquarters in Cypress, CA when they told us no production Galants were made with the 5 speed during our visits https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Check this out:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/15132.shtml ('http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/15132.shtml')
and this:
http://www.newsargus.com/newsport/jimscars...Galant1999.html ('http://www.newsargus.com/newsport/jimscars/Galant1999.html')

Appearantly, they must have pulled the option at the last minute, or they are so rare that no mention is made on the net. There are a lot of parts places like Injen listing it as a model, but I could find no other evidence of their existance. Perhaps the ones that have been spotted are swaps too? I did find a parts locator site where someone was trying to find a 5 speed for a 99 Galant ES, but that was it.

Oh and for anyone who can read Chinese, or just want specs on VR-4 Galants, I found this in my search:
http://www.hkgalantclub.org/update/html/spec.php ('http://www.hkgalantclub.org/update/html/spec.php')
I thought this was Japanese, but it's in Hong Kong, so go figure...
